I am board certified in Integrative and Family Medicine and specialize in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Medical Acupuncture. Over the last decade, I had increasingly been feeling the void in my education of what happens during the transformation into menopause. I often wondered if the best we could hope for was to work out harder, calorie restrict in response to our slowing metabolism, take unregulated supplements for hot flashes and antidepressants for the inevitable anxiety and depression? It had been weighing on my mind but became more pressing as my skin began to show signs of aging, my periods became irregular and my sleep patterns fractured. It is also the topic of conversation of all my sisters, friends and female patients. Once I discovered the Health by Heather Hirsch podcast and began the training program for professionals, it is all I talk about to anyone who will listen. My love for medicine has been reinvigorated and I am incredibly excited to begin my own hormone therapy journey and cannot wait to bring relief and joy to women in this transitional period in our lives.
