About

Hamiyet Outzen
As a long-time nurse practitioner in primary care, I was well-versed with preventive care and chronic disease management for both men and women. When I went through menopause myself, though, I realized that even top-notch providers may not have sufficient background knowledge and experience to recognize and treat menopause properly. OB/GYNs properly focus on the most disruptive symptoms and conditions, but usually lack the time to provide broader guidance regarding quality of life, adaptation to gradual change, and women's health beyond menopause. I have become a passionate advocate of improving baseline knowledge for providers and for patients in these areas, as they have a massive impact on well-being and health for roughly half the population. And as women generally have a longer expected lifespan, this means many years living with menopause. My goal is to optimize health for peri/post/menopausal women and help informed decision-making.
