Dorothy Renee Thornton

Originally from Shreveport, Renee has worked in the medical field for many years. She has experience in every aspect of healthcare from the front desk, insurance claims and administrative assistant to CNA, LPN, RN and now Nurse Practitioner. Her interest in medicine grew through the years, and she decided to start her journey in becoming a health care provider. She began pursuing her nursing degree and completed her RN degree in 2007 and her MSN in 2020. Her love for women’s health started at the beginning of her nursing career while working in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum which lasted for 15 years. As a nurse practitioner, she has been working as an urgent care practitioner and a nursing instructor for Women’s Health in the Nursing Department at Sowela Community College. Her love for women’s health with an emphasis on menopause has always been a focus for her ongoing education and to be able to pursue a career in this area has been a lifelong dream. Providing gynecological care to women of all ages in SWLA with an emphasis on optimal health for women experiencing menopause is an honor and privilege.
