About

Angelique Ellerbee Richardson

Angelique Richardson, MD, PhD, is a board-certified breast medical oncologist, physician-scientist, and Associate Professor of Medicine with over a decade of experience caring for women across the cancer continuum. She completed her MD and PhD in Molecular Genetics at Loma Linda University, followed by Internal Medicine residency and Hematology/Oncology fellowship training, and has held academic and clinical leadership roles at major institutions including UC San Diego Health. Throughout her oncology career, Dr. Richardson has cared for thousands of women navigating menopause—often abruptly and severely—due to chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, surgical menopause, or survivorship-related hormonal changes. She witnessed firsthand how menopausal symptoms were frequently minimized or undertreated, despite their profound impact on quality of life, identity, relationships, and long-term health. This gap was especially evident among breast cancer survivors, where symptom management must be nuanced, evidence-based, and safety-focused. Motivated by these experiences, Dr. Richardson founded her menopause practice to provide thoughtful, personalized care for women in midlife, including those with complex medical histories such as cancer survivorship. Her mission is to combine rigorous science, compassionate listening, and patient education to help women feel empowered, supported, and whole during this transition—reframing menopause not as an endpoint, but as a pivotal chapter in lifelong health and vitality.
