About

Alexandra Volo

As an osteopathic family medicine doctor at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to being the first point of contact in my patients' healthcare journeys. I cherish the opportunity to enter each examination room, where I encounter a unique story, diagnosis, and individual. My practice encompasses managing acute and chronic diseases, detecting life-threatening conditions, and focusing on health maintenance and preventive medicine. I strive to be both an educator and an advocate for my patients, fostering solid connections and ensuring continuity of care across all life stages. Treating multiple generations within a family and witnessing their special moments is the most rewarding aspect of my work. I specialize in family medicine, providing comprehensive care to children, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population. I am board-certified in osteopathic family medicine, having received extensive training from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by my residency at Penn State Health, where I served as chief resident. Throughout my career, I have prioritized proactive healthcare engagement, emphasizing the importance of patient education and empathy. My approach is based on the belief that informed patients are empowered to make better health decisions. I am passionate about promoting healthy nutrition and fitness in my practice and personal life. My commitment to patient engagement ensures a positive and supportive experience for all my patients. My journey into medicine began at a young age, inspired by a book about names and their meanings. Discovering that "Alexandra" means "helper of mankind" guided me toward a medical career. This revelation and an early internship at NYU Langone solidified my decision. After completing my medical education and training, life brought me back to NYU Langone, where I continue to pursue my passion for medicine and patient care. I enjoy spending my free time with my family- my husband, our three sons, and three dogs.
